A Town Explores a Book – 2024

Active Arts partners with local art project, ‘Explore The Arch’ again this year for literary festival ‘A Town Explores A Book’.

This year the festival explores E. Nesbit’s classic The Railway Children. Active Arts have had the privilege of being one the partners in this fantastic festival and have helped bring the story to life producing work for their exhibition “with a shriek and a snort”.

Active Arts’ work forms part of the wider exhibition dedicated to the festival. It explores aspects of the book as well as the railway history right here in St Leonards with a model of Warrior Square Train Station as it was! Please support our students work as part of this festival at their studio, Archer Lodge, Charles Road, St Leonards. The exhibition is open daily from 11am-4pm on weekdays until 12th March.

There is plenty to see and do across the whole festival which runs until 14th March. Follow the trail around St Leonard’s uncovering exhibitions, window displays, free family activities and more!

More information (including downloadable map) can be found on the ‘A Town Explores a Book’ website HERE

Active Arts would like to thank our wonderful students and staff who have worked so hard to bring the project to life.

Open Door takes part in local exhibition.

This week sees the launch of a brand new exhibition at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery – Stored Out of Sight. The exhibition explores a rich history of disability and the importance of fighting for equality and rights in our community. The exhibition features artifacts which have previously been mis-catalogued and deemed ‘non-important’. Open Door members were invited to be part of the exhibition. Photos of the participants together with their own words feature in this important collection. The exhibition is live until December and entry is Free! More information can be found on the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery Website HERE
