Making for the Stage
Learn how to make different props for the stage. This fun class will work closely with the performance classes to make props for the Active Arts show. They will also be able to create their own small performance piece/film and work with their own props. The group will also get a chance to exhibit their work at the Active Arts show.
Dance
This class offers opportunities to create dance pieces of a professional standard using a creative structure and improvisation. The students work together as an ensemble and on solo pieces, which will create a choreographed piece for the Active Arts show.
Art and Design
Throughout the year students learn different art techniques and produce a portfolio of work. Working with different artists and art materials students explore their own creativity and work towards exhibitions and local festival events . The group also work on the backdrops for the Active Arts show.
Comedy and Drama Improvisation
Using music, movement, comedy, mime, props and costume, this active performance class produces work of a professional standard towards the Active Arts show. The class takes place at the White Rock Theatre, students are encouraged to bring ideas to the group. Work is devised throughout the year and students work on performance techniques and staging. There may also be opportunities for students to perform at other venues and events.
Musical Theatre
Dancing and singing, group and solo pieces – this musical theatre group create stunning work of a professional standard to be performed at the Active Arts show. Students work on singing and acting techniques, vocal and physical exercises. The class takes place at the White Rock Theatre. The group may also have opportunities to perform at other venues and events throughout the year.
